 “AMERICAN DAREDEVILS”
 PREMIERING TUESDAY OCTOBER 22ND
ON HISTORY CHANNEL

Spanky Spangler has been a daredevil his entire life. Tough as iron, Spanky earned his nickname at a young age taking a spanking for a classmate he knew couldn’t handle the punishment. But he could and always has been stronger than anyone else. After surviving 22,000 stunts and setting a number of world records, he has earned the title of the greatest living daredevil.  However, now he’s staring down the twilight of his career as his son Bryan, “Spanky Jr.,” is gearing up to take over the family business.

“American Daredevils” premiers Tuesday, October 22nd at 10/9c on the History Channel, showcasing the stunts that have made them famous and continue to delight audiences across the country.

Joining the Spanglers duo, Texas daredevil Dr. Danger’s seeks legitimacy as a professional daredevil and Mr. Dizzy is setting out to bolster his world record-setting reputation. Spanky leads the team in 16 episodes of death-defying acts without the luxuries of rehearsals or second chances. They launch themselves through the air in cars and motorcycles, light themselves on fire, jump off tall buildings and risk their lives in countless crash-and-burn stunts, all for the freedom of making a living while doing what they love. They are the last of the daredevil breed, and as their lives unfold, it becomes clear that the stunts are only part of their stories.

From the dirt tracks of America’s heartland to the bright lights of the country’s biggest speedways, American Daredevils brings to life the stories of the men who proudly carry the torch lit by Evel Knievel. These daredevils travel the country performing live.

Robert “Spanky” Spangler , America’s greatest professional daredevils for over four decades began performing stunts at the age of 12, and by his teenage years, he was sneaking onto Hollywood film lots to try to meet the stunt guys and learn how to become one of them. As one of the youngest Green Berets ever, Spangler distinguished himself in Viet Nam and honed his skills among the “Screaming Eagles” jumping from helicopters amid the terrors of war. His stunt career has included jumping from a helicopter onto the top of a semi-truck moving down the highway at 45mph, jumping a rocket truck across the Rio Grande River, falling from countless buildings into an airbag, and crashing hundreds of cars. Unbreakable, the Falling Star, Spangler continues to build a reputation doing the death defying stunts that brought him to fame.
