Weight loss is one of the most difficult things I have done. It's been a problem since childhood. I lost 40lbs at 15, 40lbs at 21, 40lbs at 27, and so on all of my life. The weight always comes back and then some. After a heart attack at 39 I lost 65lbs. Half of that has come back. Diabetes, high blood pressure and irregular heart beats are all treated by medications. Weight loss is at the critical stage now. This has to work.

ISAGENIX

AZPHM Editor Reports on Personal Experiences with IsaGenix.  Follow her progress!
The first month of my Isagenix experience  is reported below in detail.  I will continue to post this log occasionally if only to remind myself of my progress. You know, public humiliation if I fall off the wagon! Overall I am more satisfied with Isagenix than any other protein shake I have tried in the past. It helps me combat fatigue, control my blood glucose levels and avoids headaches experiences with past diets.  My only complaint is the cost. But if it works, and it does, it is right at any cost!

Oh, I did go to the Isa University here in Phoenix and I met Kathy Cover and many other Isa folks. She reminded me that Isagenix was just a tool I use in my nutritional approach to controlling my diabetes.

April 1  Karen Burke is passionate about getting me on IsaGenix . She has had a vision that it is going to restore my health and strength. I should mention here that I am a Type 1 diabetic, the result of poison in my system for an extended period after 12 brown recluse spider bites in 2003. I have to inject insulin 4 times a day. Karen wanted to prove to me that  IsaGenix will help control my blood sugar and help me control my weight. I have been severely over weight for over 20 years. I am mostly concerned with blood sugar control and energy. Lately the fatigue has been overwhelming. Blood Sugar

Day 1 April 3 My first full day on IsaGenix. I had a chocolate shake in the morning. Jim Rhodes, a nutrition expert on the advisory board of IsaGenix told me to take only one scoop in my shake but do it twice in the morning and twice in the evening, rather than the usual two scoops in one shake. The Accelerator tablets were to be taken morning and night too. I get to eat a regular lunch of about 600 calories. I had a nice salad with a half a grilled chicken breast at a lunch meeting. A full day of errands and meetings, but I had plenty of energy, and slept very well that night. Feeling terrific!    155                     -0-
Day 2 April 4 My second day on IsaGenix. I had a chocolate shake at about 7am in the morning then I had a strawberry shake at about 11:30am in the morning.  For lunch at about 2pm I had a salad with tuna and a bit of cantaloupe.  In the later afternoon about 5pm I had a chocolate shake and another at about 7:30pm. I put in a lot of time doing yard work cleaning my pool and never ran out of energy. So I will be tracking my blood sugar as well as weight and measurements. Karen wants me to track my ph levels too. I am learning so much!    155                           -0-
Day 3 April 5 My third day on IsaGenix  Family was in town and we had plans for a dinner at Pinnacle Peak Patio. So I had to modify my plans and had two shakes in the morning and two shakes in the afternoon. I did take a little nap in the early afternoon to prepare for a late night out. Then I had a small steak, potato and salad about 5pm. I was a little sluggish in the morning  as a result of the heavier food the night before. 143                     -0-
Day 4 April 6 My fourth day on IsaGenix  Monday was pretty much work at home day so I had two shakes in the morning and a light salad lunch with tuna and egg for protein. Then I had two shakes in the late afternoon and early evening. I was a little hungry about 5pm and snacked on some red grapes.  I have really reduced my insulin intake! 140                            -3
Day 5 April 7 My fifth day on IsaGenix  A day full of meetings starting at 6am. A chocolate shake went into my coffee mug and was easy to drink on the freeway on my way to the 6am meeting. I avoided the usual coffee and donuts on the buffet. I did grab a couple of grapes. I didn't get time to squeeze in my 2nd morning shake, but had a tuna sandwich on wheat toast at 2pm. I also had a handful of salad - no dressing. By 3pm I was getting the muchies and had a delicious vanilla shake with the fruit mix added to taste like strawberry. 142                         -5

Day 6 April 8 My sixth day on IsaGenix     I had one shake before noon. Then a business lunch was an Asian Chicken Salad at Marie Calendar's. Late in the afternoon I had a shake and one in the evening.

Day 7 April 9 My seventh day on IsaGenix   I was blown away with how low my waking blood sugar is getting. It was a tough day. I started out by twisting my knee out of joint while cleaning the pool this morning. I had two shakes before noon. At about 2pm I made an egg salad sandwich on wheat and a handful of grapes. In the evening I had two more shakes. 98                             -8
Day 8 April 10 My eighth day on IsaGenix   This will be tough as I have to go on the road for business. Not able to have shakes I had to deviate from the diet for 2 days. I left early in the am and on the road for 6 hours. Not knowing when dinner would be I had 2 eggs, 2 toast for lunch at Denny's about 10am. No lunch. Dinner was late, about 9pm, and we had catfish steak fries, and cole slaw. Just a bite of key lime cheesecake. Staying in Rancho Mirage CA . 98                           -8
Day 9 April 11 My ninth day on IsaGenix   A yogurt at the hotel and a small bowl of oatmeal mid-morn. Then lunch at 1pm was a chicken salad at Mimi's. Back on the road from Palm Springs to Phoenix. No lunch. 111                          -8
Day 10 April 12 My tenth day on IsaGenix   Easter and I took Mom to Mass and spent the day with family. No breakfast but we had ribs, potatoes, corn on the cob and carrot cake for lunch. No dinner but a handful of grapes.  106                        -8
Day 11 April 13 My eleventh day on IsaGenix   I slept in and missed my morning shakes. I still feel full from the meal yesterday. At noon I had a grilled cheese sandwich and grapes. The scales shows a couple of pounds gained. I'm determined to work these off. Two shakes in the late afternoon and early evening. It was a  difficult evening with hunger pangs.  A snack of a  handful of grapes kept me under control. 121                            -6
Day 12 April 14 My twelfth day on IsaGenix. Taking my usual dose of insulin at bedtime was too much. I had a low blood sugar episode in the night worse than I have ever experienced. I awoke in a state of confusion sweating profusely, hot and shaking, with a terrible headache. My heart was beating very erratically. Blood sugar was 40.  I took a cup of orange juice and fell back asleep. I had a shake at 5am and another at 11am.  For lunch a tuna sandwich and salad. Then 2 more shakes. I learned my lesson about taking a standard dose. With IsaGenix my blood sugar is lowered and I need to test more frequently to determine dose. 80                              -7
Day 13 April 15 My thirteenth day on IsaGenix   A morning strawberry shake at 8am. I was too busy to prepare my second shake. My friend Bob took me to lunch at 1pm at Applebee's and I had a soup and salad combo. I will be out very late tonight and so I will have a shake before I leave the house at 4pm.   90                            -8
Day 14 April 16 My fourteenth day on IsaGenix   A morning strawberry shake at 6am. I was too busy to prepare my second shake. My friend Bob took me to lunch at 1pm at Applebee's and I had a soup and salad combo. I was out very late running a program and so I had a shake before I left the house at 4pm and it held me strong while everyone around me was eating the 4 large pizzas I bought for the party. It smelled wonderful but I never had a single bite!  I had another shake to unwind when I got home at 10pm. 96                        -8
Day 15 April 17 My fifteenth day on IsaGenix   A morning strawberry shake at 8am. Again I was too busy to prepare my second shake. Lunch at 12pm at a private party and I had a chicken Caesar salad. I was running all afternoon from meeting to shopping to errands. Finally met with friends for dinner. Even though I was supposed to have a shake for dinner, I had some fish and cole slaw. I skipped the potatoes and dessert. I may make a shake for my dessert. I'm not really hungry but I know it will help me be less hungry when I wake in the morning.  92                       -8
Day 16 April 18 My sixteenth day on IsaGenix   Saturday and I had a women's group meeting at 11am. So a morning strawberry shake at 8am will get me on the right foot. My Isagenix sponsor Karen joined me at the meeting and we met so many wonderful people, including a lady who had been on Isagenix before and was ready to re-up her commitment to the program to lose some weight and get stronger. Karen and I also split an entree of salmon and spinach salad. It was wonderful.  I should have had just a shake for dinner but ended up eating with the folks. BBQ chicken and scalloped potatoes with salad.    98                      -8
Day 17 April 19 My seventeenth day on IsaGenix   Sunday morning and the scale reflects the water retention from that salty dinner last night. I gained 2 lbs. So I will work extra hard today to drop those pounds. I'm starting with a diuretic tea. Church at 11am with Mom. So a morning strawberry shake at 8am will get me on the right foot. I have plenty of yard work to get some exercise after.     137                            -6
Day 18 April 20 My eighteenth day on IsaGenix   Monday I have a day at home so I tried a cleanse day. 4 oz of the fruit cleanse drink in the am at noon in the evening and bedtime. I did have a hard time not eating. I admit I nibbled on some grapes.        87                            -8
Day 19 April 21 My nineteenth day on IsaGenix   Tuesday morning early meeting at Carefree Corridor group.  Blood sugar was low this morning (the result of yesterday's cleanse) so I had a cup of oj at the meeting. I still have the mental desire for coffee but the cravings are going away.  A shake when I got home at 9am. Lunch was a tuna sandwich and three bean salad. This evening was a Kangen water meeting and I am so sold on this water! I could feel the effects. Let's see if the results show!   70                      -8
Day 20 April 22 My twentieth day on IsaGenix   Wednesday morning and the scale reflects the water.  Another pound down! Two shakes in am and two shakes in pm. Meetings all day kept me on the run. Doctor visit and he is happy with my progress so far.  Ac1 blood sugar report looks good! 9.8 last month now 9.4.   80                           -9

Day 23 April 25 My twenty-third day on IsaGenix   Saturday morning. Working the Women's Expo all morning. A shake before I left. A turkey sandwich at the expo and a couple of granola bar samples. The evening was spent doing a Spirit of the Old West Alive interview and show in Maricopa. A long drive and cowboy cookout dinner of chili and cornbread. Apple crisp from a Dutch oven was delicious! Off diet big time but worth it!   82                          -10
Day 24 April 26 My twenty-fourth day on IsaGenix   Sunday Working the Women's Expo all day 10-5pm. A shake in the am and turkey sandwich from the food court for lunch. I was so tired by the time I got home after a non-stop weekend that I put my feet up had a shake and went to bed!    121                     -10
Day 25 April 27 My twenty-fifth day on IsaGenix   Monday catching up after 3 days away from my desk. Light meals and lots of exercise yesterday reflected in another pound down and extra low blood sugar. Actually felt like a couple of eggs for breakfast and still had my shake. Lunch a bowl of tomato soup and crackers. A couple of shakes in the afternoon and evening.       67                         -11
Day 26 April 28 My twenty-sixth day on IsaGenix   Tuesday morning is always my early networking meeting. A shake before I left and a few grapes from the fruit tray. Lunch was more fruit and cheese and crackers. A shake in the evening.    72                        -11

Day 30 May 2 My twenty-ninth day on IsaGenix   Saturday     Phoenix Diabetes Expo and I told my story to the many thousands of people at the Expo! Basically what I said is after years of having trouble losing weight I have finally found a product that has helped me lose weight without headaches and hunger pangs. Fifteen pounds in one month and I have my blood sugar under control and have so much more energy. No more extreme fatigue and I am much more active.     90                      -15
Day 60 June 2 My sixtieth day on IsaGenix   Tuesday     Okay I was on and off for the month of May. But one thing is that I maintained the fifteen pounds I lost last month. No progress but no loss of ground won. So not I am determined to make June another loss month!  84                      -15

Here is my modified recipe for chicken breasts.
Chicken Breasts With Mediterranean Marinade

The oils in the Italian dressing are rich in Omega3 ALA.
Ingredients
- 1 jar (7 oz.) roasted red peppers, drained
- 1 can (2.25 oz.) sliced pitted ripe olives, drained
- 1 cup Wish-Bone ® Italian or Robusto Italian Dressing
- 1 tsp. dried oregano leaves, crushed or 1 Tbsp. chopped fresh oregano
-1/4 cup orange juice
- 2-1/2 lbs. split chicken breasts

1.For marinade, puree red peppers and olives in blender. Blend red pepper mixture, orange juice , Wish-Bone® Italian Dressing and oregano in small bowl. Pour 1 cup marinade over chicken in large, shallow non-aluminum baking dish or plastic bag; turn to coat. Cover, or close bag, and marinate in refrigerator, turning occasionally, 3 to 24 hours. Refrigerate remaining marinade.
1.Remove chicken from marinade, discarding marinade. Grill or broil chicken, turning once and brushing frequently with refrigerated marinade, until chicken is thoroughly cooked.
Serves: 4  Preparation Time: 10 Minutes Cook Time: 30 Minutes  Marinate Time: 180 Minutes
Makes a moist delicious chicken breast. BBQ extra and have it cold the next day!
